Torres Machado portrays creation in a constant stage of birth and agony. He’s an artist who develops critical and documentary processes on his various bodies of work. He inhabits the extremes of rigorous geometry and lyrical abstraction. At both ends, his notion of the art market, society, and public participation is present.
Machado is the recipient of the 2017 New York Regional Award of the Bombay Sapphire Artisan Series. He was granted a year art residency at the Bushwick Generator in 2019 and at Trestle Art Space in 2016, both in New York. In 2009, he received his BA in Contemporary Arts and Communication, with Minors in Photography and Psychology, from Universidad de las Artes in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador.
Machado’s work has been recently exhibited at The Clemente Soto Cultural and Educational Center, The Border Gallery, Denise Bibro Fine Art, Microsoft, Metlife, and The Harlem School of Arts, in New York. Scope Art Show and The Versace Mansion, in Miami. Museo El Cuartel, Museo de Arte Moderno, and Bienal Nómade in Latin America. Upcoming shows will be held at the Veracruz University in Mexico. He is one of the founding artists of the ArteLatAm’s Collective.
